The Swiss alchemist Paracelsus (1493 - 1541) once wrote, "Those who think that all fruits ripen at the same time as strawberries, understand nothing about grapes".

The remaining texts of the work are by the Cypriot poet Costas Montis (1914-2004), from his literature as well as his last television interview shortly before his death in 2004. Strawberries and Grapes was written soon after Montis’ death and has a varied character – sometimes lost, sometimes hidden, sometimes shy, and sometimes a direct lament.
