Valentyna narrates the title in Russian twice, at the beggining and at the end of the work. It is the longest of her speech - all other syllables are inversions of the ancient greek saying, A Single Moment of Life is an Entire Life which comes from the ancient greek author Plutarch. The work is divided into segments which relate the elemental nature of experience, such as the breath-like technique of the accordion, the narration, the development of single pedal notes and the last key click which sounds like a closing of a door.

Nickos Harizanos - Nereids op. 40
Piano - Roxanne Papadimitriou

Nereids were mythical sea spirits. In the first part of the work Harizanos describes the glassy sounds of water drops that come and go; in the second slow section dinstictive layers of consonant and dissonant harmonies emerge from the piano. Little melodic phrases based on a small number of notes that remain static and undeveloped, float out like imaginary spirits passing in the air.
