Nickos Harizanos was born in Athens. He studied composition, in Athens under the supervision of Christos Lambrianidis and Spiros Klapsis from 1992 to 1999. He then continued his studies at Manchester University (2000-2001) with Professor John Casken and Professor Geoffrey Poole, graduating with a research Master’s degree (MMus) in Composition. He has offered a place for PhD studies in Composition at University of Cardiff (U.K.), which he will likely attend in 2007. Harizanos' music has been performed internationally, including the United States, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Germany, France, Portugal, Hungary and Greece and has received awards in numerous international and national competitions. His work has been broadcast on national television and radio stations. He is a member of the Greek Composers Union, the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association, Centre of Research of Contemporary Music (founded by Iannis Xenakis), Greece. The new edition of the Who's Who Encyclopedia contains information on Harizanos and his work. His works are published by Da Capo Music Ltd (U.K.), Gold Branch Music Inc. (U.S.A.) and Philippos Nakas Music Publications (Greece).
