Peggy Polias was born in Sydney in 1981. She began learning the piano at 6 years old, and started composing little piano sketches at 11 years. In 2002, she completed a B.Mus.(Honours) in Composition at Sydney University, studying under Anne Boyd and John Peterson.

In addition to composing, Peggy works as a copyist for composers Elena Kats-Chernin and Peter Sculthorpe. Peggy is a member of the Langen Suka Sydney Gamelan, specialising in Javanese Gamelan. Peggy has composed music for a range of ensembles, from solo to orchestra, acoustic as well as electronic music. Her orchestral work Heart received the Fellowship of Australian Composers Encouragement Award in the 2005 2MBS-FM/Willoughby Symphony Orchestra Young Composers' Competition.
